P.E and School Sports
The government is providing additional funding of £150 million to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sports in primary schools. This funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and is being allocated to primary schools. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE an sports in schools.
St Joseph’s have been developing all areas of PE to ensure that pupils gain access to outstanding resources.
Recently the school has spent £700 on launching a new dance scheme called imovesdance, which has been really successful across the whole school.
St Joseph’s has also spent £5,000 on the Havering School Games Collective and further details on the results of being part of this Collective will be posted shortly.
Harrow Lodge Junior Park Run arranged by Dave Keeley
Harrow Lodge junior parkrun takes place every Sunday at 9am in Harrow Lodge Park and is free. The distance is 2K. Parents can run with their children, but is not necessary as the course is fully marshalled. All officials are DBS checked.
The run was paid for by the council (Margaret Campbell) and is supported by them through the parks department.
We get about 30 or so each week but can take more. The event is for 4-14 years, but the older ones (11+) tend to do the 5K on a Saturday.
