Welcome from Mrs Podmore, Chair of Governors
Welcome to the family and community of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and thank you for choosing to send your children to our school. As Chair of Governors it is my privilege to welcome you to our wonderful school and I look forward to meeting you in person in the not too distant future.
My fellow governors and I are an experienced and diverse group of individuals who bring a wide range of talents and expertise to support as well challenge our excellent Headteacher and her team of committed and dedicated staff. We all know what an excellent school St Joseph’s is and this is clearly demonstrated over and over again in a number of ways, with outstanding success in SATs results in Year 2 and Year 6, in sporting achievements and in a real commitment to supporting those less fortunate than ourselves. These successes cannot be achieved without people who ‘go that extra mile’ for the children in their care. During these unprecedented times Mrs Matthews and her staff have shown again and again their ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and well being of our children as well as making sure they are keeping up with their studies. You only need to look at the school website to appreciate the variety of activities staff have prepared for the children to complete at home, from dividing fractions and learning how to Morris dance in year 6, to practising number bonds and learning the Fish and Chips song in Reception.
St Joseph’s really is a wonderful and inspiring place to learn and grow, where children follow Gospel values and truly live out the school’s Mission Statement in their daily lives: St Joseph’s is a joyful community which follows the example of Jesus, helping, accepting and respecting everyone, as we learn and grow together safe in His love.
Welcome to St Joseph’s from the PFA!
On behalf of the PFA committee, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the St Joseph’s family. I look forward to getting to know you all. As parents of a child at the school, you are automatically now a PFA member and we hope that you will help us in our fundraising activities. The PFA is headed by a central committee (Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary) and heavily supported by a large and active team of parents throughout the year. We meet once every half term. We organise a range of events throughout the year for parents, children and as families. In the past this has included Quiz Nights, parties, Balls, and of course our Summer Fete and Christmas Bazaar. There is no expectation regarding members’ involvement; we all just give the time we can around our jobs and busy lives. Many hands make light work; it really is a case of “the more, the merrier”! Recently the money we have raised has help fund new reading books for all year groups, and IT equipment; we also like providing the odd treat for the children throughout the school year! As well as raising vital funds to improve our children’s school experience, the PFA is a great way to get to know other parents, and socialise.
